Single Vineyard "TURTLES" from Alpha Estate
Red vinification with cold soak and ageing in French oak casks of small grain and medium toast for 12 months and further 12 months in the bottle, before release.
"Turtles" is the name of the single vineyard block, chosen by the Alpha Estate vinegrowing team to ensure the best expression and unconditional typical character of Syrah. The vineyard name is Turtles because it is an ancient nesting area for the local turtle species that they continue to preserve and protect. The vineyard is at an altitude of 670 metres, at the south block of the Estate, with northwest exposure, on low fertility soil of excellent drainage, facing Petron lake.
Excellent with juicy red meats, game, roasted lamb, soft and mature hard cheeses. Best enjoyed at 16-18 degrees C.
